However the article states that its author, Larry Ponemon, "a pioneer in the development of privacy audits" found that "of more than "5,500 individuals contacted last month, 36% of respondents agreed with the statement that [the Department of] Homeland Security is "committed to protecting the privacy of my personal information." Forty-three percent in the study disagreed, while 21% were unsure."
