[All Life Is Problem Solving] So, if Rao does view “the thing” that is at war with social media as a “venerable IT-based social engineering discipline,” Novaks comment suggests that Rao is not referring to either the KM that Novak practices, or to the KM that Ive been practicing, and talking and writing about for the past ten years, including in this article. I do think that if a “venerable IT-based social engineering discipline” exists, that one would expect a serious cultural conflict with social media, and even that it may be locked in an undeclared cultural war for the soul of Enterprise 2.0.

[All Life Is Problem Solving] KM 2.0 and Knowledge Management: Part 20, “2.0” This and “2.0” That: Since then, the discussion of KM 2.0 among practitioners has accelerated, including favorable comments about it expressed by KM notable Tom Davenport, but theres no consensus about whether “KM 2.0” is a useful notion, indicating a major new beginning in KM, a sort of ”second chance.” And theres also no consensus on whats meant by KM 2.0, or how it relates to KM, or more generally, how KM relates to Web 2.0, social software, social media and Enterprise 2.0.

There are a number of pertinent reasons to 'muddy up the Magick angle', not the least of which would be to put people off dabbling in it themselves and thus finding out that 1) it works, and 2) it isn't as it has been made out to be, even by Crowley himself.

He completely ignored new elements in the technology and forcefully presented the design pattern for his success as the design pattern for success (his was an approach I'd call waterfall social engineering, involving elaborate up-front charters, courting of subject-matter experts (SMEs) and "stakeholders" and formal launch events).
