Google Docs Update

[Knowledge Management (whatever it is)] I am currently using Google Docs, and am really enjoying it. For another class, we have to give a team presentation and we decided to you it to reduce the amount of time that we had to meet in person and set up meeting times, which was inconvenient for us all.

Ugh -- Google Earth (and I) may be doing evil -- involuntarily...

[W. David Stephenson blogs on homeland security et al.] 's Paul McNamara writes that Google Earth may be involuntarily be an accessory to evil -- despite its "do no evil" motto (this is the opposite, in my book, to the evil it really may be doing consciously by allowing Chinese authorities to filter results to searches done there) because Iraqi insurgents may be using Google Earth images to direct strikes against British soldiers there.

The Google AdWord Vultures

[loose wire] It’s interesting to watch how Google’s ”˜Sponsored Links’ capture aspects of the business process, in particular the plundering of customers from a company in trouble. Take CardSystems, for example, facing a class action suit, the loss of its main business and other indignities as a result of the theft of large amounts of credit card data from its vaults. Do a keyword search ”˜cardsystems’ on Google and you get a stream of ads: Let’s ignore the further indignity of two of the ads not being able to get the company’s name right. Where does Google draw the line on this kind of behaviour? Do they allow companies to place ads willy-nilly suggesting problems with their rivals and offering a solution? ”˜Is Microsoft going bust? Switch to Apple while you can’ type thing...

Speculations on the Google Wallet

[False Positives] How about avoiding the "stored-value payments system" part and enable disposable credit card numbers (sometimes called "One-time use") that back end to your choice of any credit cards/banks/other with Google providing google id verification to the Business, and the Google Wallet protocol universal button to consumers? (Maybe something like Jon Udell's Password generator or the GreaseMonkey version I use)
