[E-Government News] Dataquest Awards for 2006 recognises Nilekani’s contribution to the IT industryNEW DELHI: Infosys CEO and Managing Director Nandan Manohar Nilekani won the coveted `IT person of the year 2006’ award by Dataquest Magazine. The Dataquest Awards for 2006, which took place in the Capital on Thursday recognized Nilekani’s contribution to the IT industry.

Korea receives e-government award

[E-Government News] Korea received the top award for electronic governance system at the seventh International E-government Forum, the Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs said yesterday.The award is given to nations that have the best records in the fields of e-democracy, e-public participation and e-governance. The three-day international forum ended in France today, with 45 participating countries.

ICDL GCC Foundation urges more initiatives to enhance level of e-participation in Gulf region

[E-Government News] CDL GCC Foundation, the governing body and certification authority of the International Computer Driving License (ICDL) program in the Gulf region has urged for increased adoption of new information technology initiatives to boost access to government information and services which will lead to efficient governance in the Gulf region.A recent United Nations report ranks the GCC region’s e-governance readiness level at an approximate 50 per cent, which is far below the 91 per cent scored by the index leader, United States. The study also highlights the challenges the region faces in the efficient and effective implementation of e-government systems.
