Illegal immigration costs federal government $10 bln a year

[ | IT Facts | ZDNet.com] Currently the cost of illegal immigration to the federal government alone is estimated at over $10 bln a year, The Information Network reports. In addition, California citizens pay $10.5 bln a year in the form of higher education costs, higher law enforcement costs, and higher health care costs.

Marketing of councils' online services to be explored in new research

[xPRESS Digest] The way councils are going about marketing their 'e' services is to be explored in a new piece of research announced this week by Socitm Insight, publisher of the annual Better connected survey of local authority websites. The new research will identify and report on examples of best practice in the marketing of online services by councils, and will focus on the marketing of specific services like leisure, planning, street scene reporting and education, rather than looking at the marketing of the council website as a whole.

Public views sought over political parties' funding

ITU participates in European Commission Workshops and Public Consultation on RFID

[ITU Strategy and Policy Unit Newslog] The European Commission has launched a public consultation on RFID, with a view to developing a coherent RFID Policy for Europe.
