[if:book] Sam Sugar, author of the adult industry-watching blog SugarBank, says Google would be foolish not to capitalize on this massive underground market, routinely shunned by "respectable" services like PayPal. In an open letter to Google's CEOs, Sugar lays out his arguments and explains how porn could catapult Google to the cutting edge of ecommerce, in much the same way that it helped VHS outmaneuver Betamax.

intent driven search from Yahoo
[customer experience strategy - by Karl Long] Yahoo’s concept of intent driven search provides a pretty useful customer experience, but the hidden goldmine IMHO is market research. If yahoo is an advertising company more than a search company then asking users if they’re “buying” when they’re doing a search is killer market research. It’s the age old retail strategy of “what is your time frame for this purchase” or more bluntly “are you ready to buy”, “let me go and talk to my manager and see if we can get you a deal TODAY”. It could open the door to differential pricing for advertisers who pay more for “shopping” orientated search than research, or even time limited offers being shown to people who are “shopping”.

Sticky Content
[malevolent design weblog : web development, media, technology and pretty much anything else] This to That simply tells you how to stick two materials together, and gives detailed information about the glues. That might seem geeky or trivial, but it’s one of those niche single-purpose sites that can become an authoritative resource without any business plans, buzzwords or marketing budgets (which is what makes the web genuinely different). I’m surprised at the lack of relevant advertising and affiliate links for purchasing products though; I reckon they could make the site more useful and profitable without jeopardising impartiality.

Lets not confuse Customer Experience with CRM

Believe me, another CRM system is not going to achieve that goal.
